Union Gospel Mission & Bonner Food Bank

Back

Giving back to communities is one of Unicep's founding principles. Today, we continue that tradition as we seek to do our part in improving and enriching the lives of children and families, as well as contributing our time, resources and energies to our local community.  In 2014, Unicep provided financial support to the Union Gospel Mission in Spokane, and Bonner County Food Bank, located next door to Unicep's headquarters in Sandpoint, ID.
The Union Gospel Mission (UGM) has been meeting the needs of the poor and homeless for over 60 years – providing more than 6.5 million meals and 1.5    million nights of shelter. What began as a downtown soup kitchen in 1951 has expanded into a comprehensive ministry encompassing Rescue, Recovery and Restoration with three shelters, two thrift stores, an automotive enterprise and a summer camp for underprivileged youth.
The Bonner County Food Bank is primarily a food resource for low- income families, disabled individuals, children, and seniors to receive a ‘helping hand’.  All resources at the food bank are free, with the hope that when an individual sees the opportunity, he or she will help someone in return for the help they received.
